Francesca Dragotto è una linguista dell’Università di Roma Tor Vergata.

La sua produzione scientifica studia come le scelte linguistiche plasmano società e istituzioni, cercando di coniugare teoria e impatto sociale. Tra i lavori recenti: l’articolo “Di cataloghi, di donne e di streghe” (Romanica Cracoviensia 2025) e il capitolo “Chi ha dato i dati all’intelligenza artificiale?” nel volume su linguaggio e IA generativa (Ledizioni 2025). Monografie e saggi includono un centinaio tra monografie, tra cui Sessismo (Mondadori 2021), e scritti su: l’analisi critica del discorso, la linguistica di genere, la costruzione della conoscenza, il funzionamento dei sistemi linguistici, il rapporto tra linguaggi e rappresentazioni sociali. Per Zanichelli ha curato la revisione delle voci relative al linguaggio inclusivo e delle differenze dei dizionari Il minore e Il Primo (2023 e 2025).

Recentemente ha preso parte ai progetti di ricerca PRIN 2022 Empowering Multilingual Inclusive Communication – E-MIMIC (come responsabile di una delle unità operative, capofila Politecnico di Torino) e Gender Norms, Masculinities and Violence against Women (GE.NO.MA. Violence, capofila Università di Genova). È inoltre coinvolta in ERASMUS+ Growth and Inclusivity in ASEAN Higher Education, è responsabile scientifica della Capacity Building Erasmus+ CBHE “BEST” e lo è stata del progetto YUFE – Crossing Gender Boundaries.

Dal 2020 riveste il ruolo di direttrice scientifica del monitoraggio RAI sulla rappresentazione della figura femminile, il pluralismo e la coesione sociale.

La sua pluridecennale e continuativa attività di disseminazione e terza missione comprende interventi per: vari ordini professionali, il team antiviolenza della Procura di Velletri, il sistema scuola (PNFD, PON, PNSD), MEF, Banca d’Italia, MIC, MIBAC, CESV, INDIRE, l’Ordine degli avvocati del diritto di famiglia. Ha collaborato con RAI3 e Radio 24 per rubriche di divulgazione linguistica e da un decennio cura il videoblog “Sentieri di parole” per Zanichelli. È componente del collegio del Dottorato in Data Science del suo ateneo.

Francesca Dragotto is a linguist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Her scientific work studies how linguistic choices shape societies and institutions, seeking to combine theory and social impact. Recent works include the article “Di cataloghi, di donne e di streghe” (Romanica Cracoviensia 2025) and the chapter “Chi ha dato i dati all’intelligenza artificiale?” in the volume on language and generative AI (Ledizioni 2025). Monographs and essays include around a hundred monographs, including Sessismo (Mondadori 2021), and writings on: critical discourse analysis, gender linguistics, knowledge construction, the functioning of linguistic systems, and the relationship between languages and social representations. For Zanichelli, she edited the entries on inclusive language and differences in the dictionaries Il minore and Il Primo (2023 and 2025).

She recently took part in the PRIN 2022 research projects Empowering Multilingual Inclusive Communication – E-MIMIC (as head of one of the operational units, led by the Polytechnic University of Turin) and Gender Norms, Masculinities and Violence against Women (GE.NO.MA. Violence, led by the University of Genoa). She is also involved in ERASMUS+ Growth and Inclusivity in ASEAN Higher Education, is scientific director of the Erasmus+ CBHE ‘BEST’ Capacity Building project, and was scientific director of the YUFE – Crossing Gender Boundaries project.

Since 2020, she has served as the scientific director of RAI’s monitoring program on the representation of women, pluralism, and social cohesion.

Her decades-long and ongoing dissemination and third mission work includes interventions for various professional associations, the anti-violence team of the Velletri Prosecutor’s Office, the school system (PNFD, PON, PNSD), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Bank of Italy, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, CESV, INDIRE, and the Order of Family Law Lawyers. She has collaborated with RAI3 and Radio 24 on language dissemination programs, and for a decade, she has edited the video blog “Sentieri di parole” for Zanichelli. She is a member of the Data Science PhD board at her university.
