Il Forum è nato dalla giornalista Marilù Mastrogiovanni ed è organizzato da Giulia Giornaliste e dalla cooperativa IdeaDinamica, con l’obiettivo di “creare ponti, abbattere muri: promuovere una riflessione sul giornalismo delle giornaliste investigative, come presidio di Democrazia, dunque di Pace”.

A public official in defense of equal opportunity in employment

By joint decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Serenella Molendini was appointed as the new alternate National Equality Councilor; she will join Francesca Bagni Cipriani, effective National Equality Councilor, in office since 2015.

Molendini, as Regional Equality Councilor of the Apulia Region, is also among the funding partner institutions of the Mediterranean Women Journalists Forum.

A freelancer, an expert in labor, gender social policies and anti-discrimination law, Serenella Molendini, from Lecce, Italy, has previously served as an Equality Adviser for the Province of Lecce (from 2002 to 2008) and the Region of Puglia (from 2008 to 2017). He is National President of CREIS – European Research Center for Sustainable Innovation.

Among the first councilwomen to engage in the fight against single-gender juntas, over the years she has fought for the protection of more than 600 women for whom she has led, together with lawyers listed in the directory at her office, major court actions that have also become case law.

Molendini, as Regional Equality Councilor of the Apulia Region, is also among the funding partner institutions of the Mediterranean Women Journalists Forum

As a Regional Councilor, she participated in the drafting of important Regional Laws such as Regional Law 7/2007 “Norms for Gender Policies and Work-Life Reconciliation Services” and Regional Law 29/2014 against gender-based violence.

She has been studying women’s work, work life balance systems and organizational well-being in companies for many years. He has edited, for the first time in Apulia, the Biennial Reports on male and female employees in companies with more than 100 employees since 2006.

On the topics of work/women’s work, career, work life balance, and anti-discrimination law, she has more than 30 publications to her credit and numerous presentations, as a speaker, at European, National and Regional Conferences. Since 2014, she has been working with the European Commission for Employment and Social Affairs in research and consulting on women’s labor issues.

“I can only express deep satisfaction with the conferral of the new position,” declares Serenella MOlendini, “which I will carry out with my usual passion and determination.

 

THE FIGURE OF THE NATIONAL EQUALITY COUNCILOR

The National Equality Councilor is a public official who is responsible for promoting at the national level, in cooperation with other relevant figures, equal opportunities between men and women in employment, and intervenes in cases of gender discrimination in employment that assume national significance. She is a member of the National Equality Committee and coordinates the National Conference of Equality Councilors and Councilors, a body for liaison and sharing of best practices among councilors and councilors from regional, metropolitan cities and wide area entities.
